The Medical Association of Namibia has expressed concerns over the lack of consultation regarding tariff adjustments by the Namibian Association of Medical Aid Funders (Namaf), highlighting potential ramifications for members.

Dr. David Weber, chairperson of the Medical Association, conveyed this sentiment in a public letter on behalf of the association.

Two months ago, Namaf announced that standard tariffs for 2023 would remain unchanged until at least the conclusion of the first quarter of 2024, with the possibility of further extension.

This decision, perceived as a reduction in members’ benefits, implies that funds will not compensate for medical inflation during this period.
