Chinese mining company Xinfeng Investment (Pty) Limited says it is constructing a lithium processing plant in Namibia.

Construction of Xinfeng’s lithium processing plant was first revealed by Chinese ambassador Zhao Weiping during a media briefing on Wednesday.

The company last week confirmed the ambassador’s announcement saying the lithium plant, expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2024, will contribute toward local value addition and product beneficiation.

“Xinfeng Investments (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of the Tangshan Xinfeng Thermal Group Company, confirms the construction of a Lithium Processing plant in Namibia. The company is dedicated to participating in the emerging energy industry, leaving a positive impact in Namibia and supporting the government’s objectives,” said Xinfeng.

The company sees it as a demonstration of their dedication to sustainable development and cleaner energy solutions.
