Namibia’s economy faced a challenging end to 2025, marked by a widening current account deficit of N$10.4 billion and a 0.5% contraction in GDP caused by significant slumps in the mining and manufacturing sectors.

Urban and Rural Development Minister James Sankwasa is standing firm on his directive to disconnect utility services to government ministries and private entities with outstanding municipal debts, insisting that no institution is exempt from paying for essential services.
