Puerto Rico and its trapped sovereignty

Puerto Rican pro-independence fighters tried to assassinate US president Harry Truman on 1 November 1950. All this was to force a change for their homeland to be considered a sovereign state from the US federation, but this has not resulted in the desired outcomes up to date.
