1. International relations analyst Marius Kudumo says that it is not wrong for President Hage Geingob to attend the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
This comes as a courtesy visit from the British High commissioner Charles Moore on Tuesday revealed that Geingob would attend the late monarch’s funeral.
Queen Elizabeth II died on 8 September at age 96 after 70 years of being on the throne. Her funeral will take place in London next Monday.
2. The Okahao Town Council was found to have purchased vehicles without proof of payments. This is according to auditor general Junias Kandjeke’s latest financial report on the town.
3. Former cabinet minister Helmut Angula says the nomination of environment minister Pohamba Shifeta and defence minister Frans Kapofi to contest the ruling party’s vice presidency was done at the expense of the Swapo constitution.
4.The ruling Swapo party’s spokesperson says the campaign rules are not ready yet.
The congress, which will take place in November this year, will elect the new leadership of the party and eventually the candidate running for the presidency in the upcoming 2024 elections.
5.More than 12,600 (64 per cent) children
in Kunene region have been vaccinated against the Measles-Rubella infection, while another 12145 (63 per cent) were also administered with Vitamin supplements during the National Integrated Immunisation Campaign and Covid-19.
