Many Namibians, as well as people around the world, must be wondering what inflation is and what causes the monthly rapid rise in prices of goods and services.

Every time you walk into a shop, the price of a particular good has gone up – but why?

These questions occupy a large section of our minds, especially after every increase in fuel and cooking oil prices.

The central bank, tasked with price stabilisation, seems to be struggling to tame prices, going against its mandate through monthly instalment increases.
