Namibia formalised its partnership with Japan by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation during the Conference of the Parties (COP 28).
The agreement, spanning economic, environmental, and social sustainability, closely aligns with Namibia’s climate objectives.
At the heart of this collaboration is a shared commitment to financing projects dedicated to carbon capture, a crucial step in support of Namibia’s dedication to climate action.
Minister of Finance Iipumbu Shiimi, speaking at the ceremony, emphasised the tangible manifestation of the robust Namibia-Japan relationship through the signed MoU.
“We are delighted with this because we are starting a new step in our relationship,” Shiimi said.
