Gender equity and women’s representatives have slammed the celebration of Women’s Day for neglecting women in remote and rural areas.

The International Women’s Day is recognised on March 8 every year to honour women’s achievements globally.

However, concerns have been raised regarding the inclusivity of celebrations, particularly in remote regions.

This year’s theme is Invest in Women to Accelerate Progress with a focus on addressing economic disempowerment.
