Thirty tour guides from the Erongo and Kunene regions were awarded certificates after successfully completing on-the-job apprenticeships at the Sesfontein Constituency’s Hobatare resort.
The ceremony, held on Friday last week, saw 16 tourist guides from the Ombonde People’s Landscape in the Kunene Region and 14 from the Brandberg Landscape Protection Areas in Erongo being graduated at levels 1 and 2 the National Training Authority (NTA) Tour Guiding qualification.
They were enrolled at Ongula Training Academy which marked the completion of its current training phase.
Speaking at the official handover event, Minister of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism, Pohamba Shifeta, emphasised the crucial role of tour guides in the tourism industry, describing them as integral to its success.
