A staggering 75% of reported business robberies in Namibia involve insiders where individuals collaborate with thieves.

This is according to Inspector General of the Namibia Police Force  Joseph Shikongo who warned businesses to be vigilant and fight against such crimes.

Shikongo said such incidents are common in commercial banks where unsuspecting clients  withdrawing huge sums of cash are targeted by robbers with the assistance of bank officials.

“People that are being robbed from the banks. It is an inside job. How do you know that I am going to withdraw N$10,000?,” Shikongo stressed.

For example, Shikongo narrated, a woman was recently attacked in the areas of Omungwelume after she had withdrawn cash amounting to N$15,000 from a bank.
