Namibia’s involvement in the space science sector is currently limited and the country is missing out on potential economic activities and technological benefits associated with the sector.

To address this gap, the Ministry of Higher Education and the National Commission on Research, Science, and Technology (NCRST) last week launched the National Space Science Council with the objective of influencing Namibia’s space science and technology landscape.

At the launch, the Ministry’s executive director, Lisho Mundia, acknowledged the country’s present inability to fully capitalise on the economic potential and advanced technologies of the upper echelons of space science.
