Russian state-owned energy giant, Rosatom, says constructing a nuclear power plant in Namibia could contribute to stabilising uranium prices while enabling the country to achieve energy self-sufficiency.

Rosatom’s national manager, Viktor Riedel, emphasised during a media engagement on Thursday night that a domestic nuclear power plant could potentially lead to more stable uranium prices, as utilising Namibia’s own uranium resources could result in cost savings compared to market prices.
