Lawmaker Maximalliant Katjimune has called upon parliament to launch an investigation into the obstacles surrounding Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) financing in Namibia.

Katjimune contends that such an inquiry is essential to enhance access to funding and unlock the economic potential of the sector.

SMEs constitute a crucial component of Namibia’s economy, contributing significantly to employment and income generation.

Research indicates that SMEs provide employment and income to approximately 160,000 individuals, constituting about one-third of Namibia’s workforce, with 60,000 people employed full-time within this sector.
