As Namibia gears up for the upcoming general elections scheduled for November, experts are advocating for prudent government spending, particularly in critical sectors like education and healthcare.

Speaking at a pre-budget public discussion on Tuesday, Salomo Hei, Managing Director of High Economic Intelligence (HEI), highlighted the expectation of increased government expenditure in the lead-up to the elections.

The event, held in collaboration with Capricorn Group, the Economic Association of Namibia, GIZ, and HEI, aimed to dissect the upcoming national budget and its potential implications.

Hei emphasised the need for transparency and accountability in government spending, questioning the effectiveness of investments in education.
