Namibia to exit Greylist

Since 2024, Namibia has intensified efforts to exit the grey list classification, a status that identifies countries with weaknesses in their financial systems, particularly in combating money laundering and terrorist financing. The government, together with financial regulators and law enforcement agencies, has implemented stronger compliance measures, improved financial oversight, and aligned national regulations with international standards set by organizations such as the Financial Action Task Force. These reforms aim to restore investor confidence, strengthen the integrity of the banking sector, and protect the country’s reputation in global financial markets. The experience has provided an important lesson for Namibia on the need for continuous transparency, effective governance, and proactive monitoring of financial activities to ensure long-term economic stability and international trust.
