OFF THE HOOK WITH SALLY J (24 JUNE 2020)
This evening we raise awareness about violence in Namibia and this evening we particularly look at Cyber Violence
The increasing reach of the internet, the rapid spread of mobile information, and the widespread use of social media, has led to the emergence of cyber violence against women and girls (VAWG) as a growing global problem with potentially significant economic and societal consequences.
The problem of violence and abuse is the greatest challenge the Internet faces today.
And that’s why we are joined by Rosevitha Ndumbu, NANSO Regional Educational Officer and Frieda Lukas, Internet Society Namibia Chapter Coordinator & Secretary
To discuss the opportunity for Internet platforms, especially those with wide reach and sufficient staffing, to take active steps against cyberviolence, including removal of posts and preserving evidence.
My question to our listeners as you join us tonight is; How has hate speech influenced society?
What are the implications of hate speech in a multi ethnical society?
