Literature on leadership is influenced by cultural/traditional and modern understandings. In many African countries, indigenous leadership literature is shaped by traditional norms and practices, yet it also incorporates contemporary political theories, including those of capitalism. Despite these influences, three perspectives exists: those who believe leaders are born, those who argue they are made through diverse circumstances and exposure, and those who define the attributes a leader should possess.

So, are leaders born or made? Individual beliefs on this matter can significantly impact one’s proactive engagement in discussions on political and leadership matters.
