Namibian lawmakers have found that new smoking trend including Hookah or Hubbly Bubbly poses health complications and risks.
These trends also include electronic cigarette devices and vaping devices.
Lawmakers in question were from the National Council’s standing committee of Health, Social Welfare, and Labour Affairs from the oversight visit they conducted to Khomas, Hardap, and Erongo regions on the effects of Hubbly Bubbly.
The oversight visit was conducted between 19 to 28 August 2024.
Hookah(Hubbly Bubbly) and vaping devices have been on a surge in Namibian as there is a perception that they’re supposedly less stigmatised or project a less negative image of a bad habit or behaviour than the traditionally stigmatised cigarette and cannabis consumption.
