The University of Namibia (UNAM) has launched a Readiness Programme designed to assist Advanced Subsidiary (AS) level learners in qualifying for studies beyond the diploma level at the institution.

Jacob Sheehama, the Hifikepunye Pohamba Campus Director, announced the initiative in an interview with Eagle FM last week.

The programme aims to enrol 5,000 students for the year 2024 who have attempted AS, NSSCH, or HIGCSE examinations and meet the eligibility criteria.

The UNAM AS initiative started in 2022 with an admission policy, which limited acceptance to new Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate grade 11 students at the diploma level only.

The Readiness Programme, funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Technology, and Innovation, will be provided free of charge to qualifying learners.
