A. In a damning report by Al Jazeera, City of Windhoek councillor Brunhilde Cornelius has alleged that she was offered a bribe by local politicians to make sure that Huawei would secure the contract to construct the 5G telecommunication network in the capital city. EagleFM speaks to James Kleinfelt of Al Jazeera on the report of alleged corruption in the granting of the construction of the 5G infrastructure. Eagle FM also speaks to Paratus Telecom owner Barney Harmse on the allegations.
B. Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) reported that the wages of those in the public administration and defense sector increased by 6.7% in the first 3 months of 2020 compared to the last 3 months of 2019.
C. The Labour Ministry paid N$ 431 333.20 to about 1505 employees between 01 April to 30 June 2020 after complaints of unpaid remunerations and other dues owed.
D. Nigeria members of parliament have resolved to investigate the purported voluntary resignation of 365 military officers from the Nigeria army.
