The effects of alcohol abuse represent a massive burden to societies around the world. Coping with a traumatic injury isn’t easy. It can lead people to misuse alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, and this can seriously hurt them.

For some people with traumatic brain injury, any use of alcohol or other drugs can be very dangerous. This happens because of the way the person’s body and mind react to the medicines they use. This evening we speak to Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Shaun Whittaker on how some people with traumatic brain injury lose their normal inhibitions due to the injury. Drinking alcohol may affect their self-control and they may have problems relating to other people.
