The successful completion of the Capricornus-1A appraisal well in the Orange Basin marks a significant milestone in Namibia’s journey toward becoming an oil-producing nation, strengthening confidence in the country’s offshore petroleum potential.

2. Namibia has slipped one place to 69th out of 70 countries in the 2026 IMD World Competitiveness Ranking, highlighting persistent economic challenges—including limited financing for businesses, infrastructure gaps and slow growth—despite the country’s
success in controlling inflation.

3. Namibia is currently implementing over 500 education infrastructure projects across the country to reduce overcrowding in schools and improve access to quality education, with the government also prioritizing local procurement of furniture to support Namibian manufacturers and create jobs—efforts underscored by the recent inauguration of the renovated Ngcove Primary School in Kavango East.
