“Black tax” is a colloquial term describing the financial support that many Black professionals provide to their extended families. This often involves helping relatives with education, healthcare, and day-to-day living expenses—support rooted in long-standing historical and economic inequalities.
But an important question arises: Should something similar be formalized or enforced to ensure that children support their parents—especially those who sacrificed so much to raise and educate them?
