The Things You Say About Yourself Can Hold You Back
There are things people say about themselves—phrases that seem harmless but carry deep consequences. You might hear someone say:
“I was born to suffer.”
“Life is unfair.”
“No one in my family ever graduated.”
“In our family, we don’t get married.”
“We don’t do business.”
These are more than just words. They are mental barriers, illusions we create that end up shaping our reality. For many, these statements become excuses—an escape route from trying, failing, or rising above difficult circumstances.
But here’s the truth: There is power in the spoken word. The things we say—especially the things we say about ourselves—can either build us up or trap us in a cycle of defeat. Words can form a web that entangles us and blinds us from the possibilities ahead.
