Travelers show up at Karibib roadblock with fake permits and fake or borrowed death certificates Eagle FM can report.

Deputy health minister Dr. Esther Munjangue this morning said that they are aware of people giving each other copies of death certificates in order to aid the applications of travel permits even though their travelling is not necessary.

Police at Uis are investigating the discovery of human remains at Farm De Rust about 65km from Uis in the Ugab river. The remains were discovered by a goat herder.

A blanket, boots, socks, dark blue cap, red overall, a bag and some scattered bones, intestines, and a lower jaw which all are suspected to be for a human being.

It is suspected that the remains are one of three people who were reported missing on 23 March 2020.

According to the police, the description of the clothes fit one of the three missing people who are suspected to have been attacked and killed by wild animals.

The search team was sent to the said area for further searches and the next of kin were informed.

Bank Windhoek has announced that it is reducing its Prime Lending rate by 1% from 9% to 8%. The Mortgage Lending rate will also decrease from 10% to 9%.

This is in response to the announcement by the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of Namibia to cut the repo rate by 100 basis points, in turn reducing the rate at which the commercial banks borrow from the reserve bank. This was announced on 15 April 2020.

The interest rates changes will be effective from Tuesday, 21 April 2020

The head of funding and liquidity management at Bank Windhoek, Diederik Kruger said the monetary action is necessary to support households and businesses operating during these challenging and uncertain times.
