1. The Bank of Namibia launched the N$50 bank note yesterday.
Speaking at the event, Cindy Phillipus deputy director for currency and banking operations at the bank of Namibia, pointed out that there is a framework or policy that governs the banks updates of bank notes.

2. Governor of the Bank of Namibia, Johannes !Gawaxab says that, on the issuance front, the central bank continues to observe an increase in currency circulation in the post-COVID period. In 2024, the Namibian economy saw a 6.9% increase in currency circulation, rising from N$5.2 billion in 2023 to N$5.6 billion. A significant 10.7% decline in counterfeit banknotes during the same period was noted.

5. Angola is currently facing a significant cholera outbreak that has spread rapidly across the country since January 2025. As of 23 March 2025, a total of 8,543 cholera cases and 329 deaths have been reported, resulting in a case fatality rate (CFR) of 3.9%.
