ON THE RADAR WITH DW (5 APRIL 2021)
1.Werner Januarie, president of the Namibia Taxi and Transport Union has blasted the response of the Road Transportation Board of Namibia as incompetent. In response to the Ministry of works and transport’s notice of the proposed taxi fare increase not being legal, the NTTU leader said that the ministry has had ample enough time to speak about this matter.
2.Today is the end of the easter long weekend and this has seen the first easter holiday in two years since 2019. On the crime and general scope of things that have been going on in Windhoek, Khomas regional commander of the Namibian police, Commissioner Ismael Basson what they have had to respond to over the long weekend.
3.Moving on to the erongo region, a popular destination for both local na dforeign tourists, we speak to the Erongo police spokesperson, Inspector Ileni Shapumba about what has been the situation at the coast and surrounding areas.
4.With regards to tourism, the easter weekend is a fixture in the Namibian calendar for holiday makers to unwind under normal circumstances. Looking at this first easter holiday in a year, the hospitality association of namibia’s representative Gitta Paetzold said that local tourists are really making a change in the local economy.
