OMAHEKE regional governor, Pijoo Nganete says the government should recruit Vocational Training Education graduates at all its government garage workshops to improve service delivery.
Nganate also urged the central government to fully decentralise the government garage with all its components to ensure that vehicles are serviced on time.
Last year, Works Minister John Mutorwa said that nearly 400 vehicles in Ondangwa and another 83 in Rundu were lying idle with minor issues due to efficiency issues in acquiring spare parts. This, the minister at the time said, impacts government work, and limits mobility.
The government garage currently has 11 workshops distributed throughout the 14 regions.
However, Nganate said the garages in the regions are still incapacitated as its entire administration and procurement system of the government garage is still centralised.
