The Rundu Government Garage has completed up to 80% of vehicle repairs in-house over the past 10 months.

The garage spent N$1.2 million on spare parts.

Senior Artisan Foreman Samuel Gebhardt revealed this on Monday, saying the shift has reduced the garage’s reliance on external service providers.

“Most of the parts we buy are for Toyota and Nissan vehicles,” he said, noting that essential items like brake pads and tyres are purchased twice a year.

Gebhardt’s remarks follow a recent directive from Minister of Works and Transport Veikko Nekundi, who ordered all government garages to submit lists of redundant vehicles within two weeks. The move aims to clear outdated vehicles from garages within three months.
