World Bank regional vice president for Eastern and Southern Africa Victoria Kwakwa believes Namibia is doing well in terms of development and equitable resource distribution.

This she says can be backed up by Namibia’s per capita income of over N$78,480 (equivalent to approximately USD 4,000, or closer to USD 5,000), which surpasses the Sub-Saharan African average.

Explaining the calculation methodology, she acknowledged that for smaller countries like Namibia, the denominator can significantly elevate per capita income figures compared to more populous nations.

Kwakwa also lauded Namibia’s progress in other development indicators, such as education, where enrollment rates at secondary and tertiary levels outperform many African countries.
