For individuals with criminal records, the journey to securing employment and achieving financial stability post-incarceration can feel like navigating through another prison.
Recognising these challenges, the Second Chance Foundation, a non-profit organisation, has dedicated itself to providing hope and restoration to ex-convicts.
The foundation recently convened an event in the Oshana Region aimed at addressing the mental health and reintegration challenges faced by former inmates transitioning back into society after spending time in correctional facilities.
During the event, Romanus Kampungu Nakare, an inmate grappling with mental illness at the Oluno Correctional Facility, underscored the critical need for improvements in the discharge process from correctional facilities.
