The Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism has urged residents in human-wildlife conflict-prone areas in the Kavango East region to remain vigilant against potential wildlife attacks.
This follows the fatal attack of two people by crocodiles early in January in the region.
The first incident occurred on January 1 when Mudi Muhemboa, a female resident of Shikoro village, was attacked by a crocodile while fetching water.
The second incident transpired on January 4 in the Mutjiku area, where 17-year-old Bunewero Peter Kuwananayo was fatally attacked by a crocodile while collecting water from the river.
The ministry is conducting an investigation into the matter, according to its spokesperson Romeo Muyunda.
Muitjiku is one of the areas that received a fully equipped borehole funded by the Game Product Trust Fund to mitigate human-wildlife conflicts involving crocodiles.
