The construction sector in Windhoek is currently facing challenging times marked by lacklustre performance as construction projects continue to dry up in the capital city.
According to a report on building data for December 2023 published by IJG Securities on Tuesday, the pipeline for construction activities in Windhoek remains thin.
In December 2023, only 94 construction plans were granted, reflecting a 33.3% decrease from November in terms of monthly approvals.
This corresponds to a 14.5% year-over-year decline in approval quantities, resulting in the authorisation of only 1,864 construction proposals in 2023 – the lowest since 2016.
