Late President Hage Geingob’s funeral weekend is expected to invigorate various business sectors, particularly benefiting the hospitality industry with an anticipated surge in visitors to the capital, Windhoek.

Numerous dignitaries and their delegations have been announced to attend the funeral of Geingob, who was accorded national hero status, and will be buried at Heroes’ Acre this weekend.

Geingob passed away on February 4 in Windhoek, having returned from the United States where he underwent a cancer trial.

Nrupesh Soni, Founder and CEO of Namibia Travel and Tourism Forum, shared insights with Eagle FM, expressing that despite the sombre occasion, the influx of thousands of people into Windhoek for the extended weekend is expected to provide a significant boost to local accommodations.
