DUNDEE Precious Metals has unveiled its plans to harness waste products that contain the presence of germanium and gallium as a parallel stream to their copper production in Tsumeb.
Dundee Precious Metals’ President and Chief Executive Officer, David Rae, revealed the presence of critical minerals like germanium and gallium within the smelter.
The company’s management team held discussions with President Hage Geingob at the State House on Friday, focusing on critical minerals.
According to Rae, Dundee is investigating opportunities related to their inventory.
“We are currently exploring the feasibility of treating these materials as a parallel stream at the smelter,” Rae added.
Germanium is used in fibre optic products and night-vision goggles, while gallium is vital in semiconductor manufacturing.
