The Windhoek municipality is planning to spend about N$460 million on infrastructure and housing initiatives around the city.

This was disclosed by Windhoek Mayor Joseph Uapingene during the city-approved 2023/2024 budget presentation on Tuesday.

“Approximately N$460 million has been earmarked for projects related to infrastructure and housing,” Mayor Uapingene announced.

He also revealed that the City of Windhoek’s budget has expanded to N$5 billion, which is reflective of the city’s growth.

The 2023/2024 Budget places primary emphasis on enhancing service delivery efficiency, with the capital budget dedicated to infrastructure maintenance and the expansion of water and electricity infrastructure to meet the increasing demands of the growing city.

Furthermore, Mayor Uapingene stressed that a significant portion of the budget has been allocated to ensure the fulfilment of the city’s land delivery and council housing objectives.
