From the 24,207 cattle slaughtered in Namibia in the first quarter of 2025, the country was able to produce another product beyond beef, which is animal hides, which were exported to 4 countries.
Updates from the Livestock and Livestock Products Board of Namibia show that in the first quarter of 2025, the country has processed some of its cattle skin into bovine wet blue and exported it.
This is 281,906 kg in the form of bovine wet blue and processed that was exported to South Africa, Zimbabwe, the UK, and China.
Most of the country’s hides go to South Africa, which bought 223,189 kilograms of the Namibia hides in the first quarter.
Despite this processing, the country couldn’t meet its internal demand for processed cattle skins for further processing into finished products.
