Fearing becoming a dumping site once the economically hyped continental free trade area starts, Namibia has demonstrated its trade prowess in the past seven months of trade statistics analysed by The Villager this year.
According to the Namibia Statistics Agency, Namibia has, in the past seven months, exported more to Africa than the value of its imports from the continent, achieving this feat twice, in July and April 2023.
During these two months, Namibia sold goods worth N$4.3 billion to the whole of Africa in April 2023 while importing N$4.2 billion.
As for July 2023, the country exported/sold goods of N$4.9 billion, while it only imported N$4.7 billion.
It is Namibia’s desire to export (sell) more than it imports (buys) from other countries, demonstrating competitiveness and bringing in more income to the country.
