Namibia faced a significant energy challenge in October as the country only managed to generate 36.5% of its total electricity demand.
As a result, the country imported the remaining 63.5% from neighbouring countries to meet demand.
According to the Namibia Statistics Agency’s sectoral report for October 2023, this marks the third lowest production for the year, following March and September figures.
In October 2023, Namibia’s aggregate demand for electricity increased to 359,358 MWh, up from 344,853 MWh in the previous month and 359,803 MWh in October 2022.
