The Namibia Employers’ Federation (NEF) has expressed disappointment after the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations, and Employment Creation rejected its request for a phased implementation of the National Minimum Wage (NMW).

NEF President Elias Shikongo stated that the Ministry’s decision disregards the recommendations of the Wage Commission, which had proposed a 12-month preparation period.

The NEF had advocated for an 18-month phased rollout but was informed that employers had sufficient time to prepare since the policy’s announcement.
