For the first time in a long while, President Hage Geingob said something that should make any rightminded Namibia reflect deeply.
Truth, as they say, is a very painful thing, and this is why most people who read about his interview with Al Jazeera got angry.
The truth, however, is what Geingob said – that we own nothing and that five nations directed the Constitution to ensure that those who had benefitted historically kept the benefits.
If you missed the story, Geingob told Al Jazeera that although a joint venture between Shell, QatarEnergy and Namcor had found oil in Namibia, nothing will change. QatarEnergy is also in on another finding together with Shell and Namcor.
Geingob said just like with the diamonds and gold, Namibians will get royalties and nothing more.
