In a recent operation conducted between 12 and 23 May 2025, the Rundu Town Council temporarily shut down 58 businesses operating without valid registration or certificates.

 

The inspection covered a total of 504 businesses in Rundu.

 

Fransiska Kupembona, the council’s Strategic Executive for Community Services, told The Villager Newspaper that the operation was prompted by growing concerns over non-compliant business operations in town.

 

“This is not a permanent closure. Locking a business is a way to alert owners that they are not in compliance and must come to our offices to start the registration process,”  clarified Kupembona.
