Development of the National Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology strategic plan through a workshop for the public health sector got underway in Windhoek this week.

 

Themed as a workshop, the planning sessions will review the rehabilitation situation in Namibia and the assessment of these findings that were captured in a World Health Organisation (WHO) report that is still to be released to the public by the Ministry of Health officials.

 

According to WHO representatives at the workshop, the report requires final approval before being made public.

 

The formulation of the National Strategic Plan is based on the outcomes of both the report and the three engagements based on the report.

 

Penda Ithindi, Executive Director of the ministry, noted that the use or introduction of rehabilitation and assistive technologies services are transformative measures to a healthcare system.
