The Namibian Unemployment Qualified Teachers Committee has proposed the elimination of interviews for qualified teachers seeking employment.
Vice Chairperson of the Unemployment Teachers Committee, Ndahambelela Ndapandula Kamati, stated that removing interviews is essential for fairness, as the current process does not take into account when teachers received their qualifications.
Kamati pointed out that many qualified teachers have completed their education years ago but are still unable to secure employment.
She noted that those who graduated as far back as ten years might no longer possess the necessary skills to be effective teachers due to prolonged unemployment.
“We recommend that the government establish a database that lists all unemployed teachers according to their graduation years, and we, as a committee, would like to assist in setting up this database,” she suggested.
