The Namibia Agronomic Board (NAB), in collaboration with AvaGro, has initiated the first banana planting field trial project in the Singalamwe area, located in the Zambezi production zone.

The trials commenced at the end of February 2024 and will cover approximately 0.5 to 1 hectare of land per trial site in low-frost risk production zones.

The identified production zones include Zambezi, Kavango, Central North, and KARST production areas.

The Karstveld, characterised by extensive dolomite and limestone formations, stretches southeast and east of the Etosha Pan in Namibia, covering the Otavi Mountains and extending westward through the northern parts of the Outjo District to Otjovasandu.
