Agriculture and land ministry was allocated 1,3 billion from treasury for the current financial year. The amount is deemed a drop in the ocean given the country which is being fed by South Africa and failing to achieve food security for its people.

However, institutions involved in the sector, Amta, Agribusdev and Agronomics and ministry of Agriculture have been in the spotlight for unconvincing reasons.

Should treasury consider increasing the agri allocation or a structural cleanup is needed before more money is pumped in.
