There are teachers who frequently request that parents assist in the education of the child, teach the child how to read, how to count they say.

Well while, this is not a bad thing, i feel there is laziness with some teachers entirely shifting the responsibilty to the parents where some are even requested to look for extra curricular classes by which i feel some teachers are saying .
