1. The Bank of Namibia’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has maintained the repo rate at 6.75% since 15 April 2025. Today BoN will announce the new repo rate.

Economists predicted the Bank of Namibia (BoN) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) to keep its repo rate stable at 6.75% on Wednesday, which was a reduction of 25 basis points in April 2025.

2. The European Union has been granted a permanent observer seat in African Union summits. This allows the EU to listen in on discussions and participate in planning and developmental programs.

My colleague, David Shoombe engaged with Lifa Nobanda, economist who discussed on the implications of the EU’s seat in the African Union, including the advantages and challenges that this development brings.

3. With eSIM (embedded SIM) technology set to replace traditional physical SIM cards globally, a local telecommunications provider has noted that the adoption of eSIM will take place gradually.
