Namibia’s girls’ U17 team, the Baby Gladiators, got their first ever victory in the U17 COSAFA Championship after beating islanders Comoros 10-0 yesterday at the Hage Geingob Stadium.

It is Namibia’s first ever win in the competition, following 8 unsuccessful attempts dating back to their first game in the competition in 2021. The Baby Gladiators also significantly improved their overall goal tally. They came into the tournament having just two goals to their record.

Namibia were led by captain Nancy Lebang of Women’s Super League side V-Power Angels, who scored a whopping seven goals in the fixture. Lebang’s goals all came in the first half. Namibia went into half time leading 8-0. Melania Gawas of Namib Daughters and Khloe Awases of Julinho Athletics were on the scoresheet as well.
