The Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) has conferred degrees to more than 2,800 students over the past two days, significantly contributing to the country’s pool of skilled labour.

This represents a 40% increase in graduate output, reflecting growth in the institution’s capacity to produce academically equipped, economically capable individuals compared to a decade ago.

NUST graduates join a bigger pool of young people from over institutions of higher learning and vocational training centres who entered the job market this year.

For context, the University of Namibia (Unam) splashed out nearly 4,000 graduates from its 12 campuses in the country.

While many are expected to enter the job market in search of employment, others are expected to pursue entrepreneurship.

Combined, UNAM and NUST have added over 6,600 graduates to the national workforce so far this year.
